Hydroxy silicone oil, also known as dimethyl hydroxy silicone oil, has the structural formula HO[(CH3)2SiO]nH, which is a linear polymer with repeated silico-oxygen bond as the main chain, methyl group as the side group and hydroxy group as the end. This silicone oil is colorless, transparent, tasteless and odorless. Soluble in carbon tetrachloride, benzene, chloroform, ether, toluene and other organic solvents, insoluble in water and ethanol, low viscosity hydroxy silicone oil has a certain solubility in water.

Hydroxy silicone oil is widely used:

1, can be used to manufacture silicone hydroxyemulsion, as fabric, paper, leather treatment agent.

2, dimethyl hydroxy silicone oil is widely used as a structural control agent in silicone rubber processing, it can effectively control the structural effect between the rubber and white carbon black, improve the processing performance of silicone rubber, extend the storage period of the rubber.

3, dimethyl hydroxy silicone oil can also be used to synthesize various types of polysiloxane intermediates
