Silicone rubber is a kind of rubber whose main chain is composed of silicon and oxygen atoms alternately. Ordinary silicone rubber is mainly composed of silicon oxygen chain links containing methyl and a small amount of vinyl. The introduction of phenyl can improve the high and low temperature resistance of silicone rubber, and the introduction of trifluoropyl and cyano can improve the temperature and oil resistance of silicone rubber. Silicone rubber has good low temperature resistance and can work at - 55 ℃. After the introduction of phenyl, it can reach - 73 ℃. The heat resistance of silicone rubber is also very outstanding. It can work for a long time at 180 ℃, can withstand the elasticity for several weeks or longer when it is slightly higher than 200 ℃, and can withstand the high temperature above 300 ℃ instantaneously. The permeability of silicone rubber is good, and the permeability of oxygen is the highest in the synthetic polymer. In addition, silicone rubber also has the outstanding characteristics of physiological inertia, which will not lead to coagulation, so it is widely used in the medical field.

According to different vulcanization mechanism, silicone rubber can be divided into heat vulcanization type (high temperature vulcanized silica gel HTV) and room temperature vulcanization type (RTV). Among them, room temperature vulcanization type includes polycondensation reaction type and addition reaction type. High temperature silicone rubber is mainly used to make all kinds of silicone rubber products, while room temperature silicone rubber is mainly used as adhesives, potting materials or molds. The consumption of heat vulcanization type is the largest. The heat vulcanization type is divided into methyl silicone rubber (MQ), methyl vinyl silicone rubber (VMQ), methyl vinyl phenyl silicone rubber (pvmq) (low temperature resistance and radiation resistance), and the other types include nitrile silicone rubber, fluorosilicone rubber, etc.
