Silicone oil usually refers to linear polydimethylsiloxane that remains in a liquid state at room temperature. Methyl silicone oil is one of the most common types, with all its organic groups composed of methyl groups.
Phenyl silicone oil is an organic silicon compound composed of phenyl groups and siloxane chains. It is a product of partially substituted methyl groups with phenyl groups in methyl silicone oil, also known as methyl phenyl silicone oil. Compared to dimethyl silicone oil with the same viscosity, phenyl silicone oil exhibits a higher viscosity temperature coefficient, lower solidification point, and flash point. Under pressure, its compression resistance and viscosity change faster.
Phenyl silicone oil is known as the aristocrat of silicone oil, and its molecular structure gives it both the oleophilicity of organic compounds and the excellent properties of siloxane chains. This special structure endows phenyl silicone oil with excellent chemical stability, high temperature stability, and excellent lubrication performance. Its characteristics are significantly improved with the increase of benzene mole fraction, including high temperature resistance, radiation resistance, lubricity, and solubility in organic solvents; But the low temperature resistance shows a decreasing trend.
