Polyether defoamers are non-ionic surfactants with excellent defoaming and anti foaming functions, odorless, non irritating, and easily dispersible in water. They are one of the important varieties of defoamer products. Widely used in fermentation manufacturing of antibiotics, vitamins, food processing, papermaking, chemical industry, coatings, building materials, detergents and other fields for defoaming treatment.
Polyether defoamer is not as good as silicone defoamer in defoaming performance and foam control performance, but polyether defoamer has little toxicity, can be used for microbial fermentation, and can withstand high temperature, high alkalinity and high acidity.
Organic silicon defoamers have good defoaming and anti foaming properties, but they are not resistant to high temperatures, acid, or slightly alkaline, and can be used in fields such as water treatment. The standalone use of polyethers is not effective and needs to be used in combination. There are also polyether modified silicone defoamers, so polyethers and silicone have both similarities and differences.
Polyether defoamer is made by compounding specially modified polyether and fluorine-containing raw materials through a special process. According to these different additives, polyether defoamers can be divided into polyols, fatty acid lipids, and amine ethers. These three different types of polyether defoamers each have their own characteristics: colorless and transparent, fast defoaming, and long-lasting foam suppression.
When polyether comes into contact with water, its cloud point is the temperature at which it reaches turbidity during the process of low-temperature dissolution in water. As the temperature of water exceeds the cloud point, polyether defoamer will play its role in the foaming system, which can quickly defoamer and control the production of foam.
Polysiloxane defoamers have the advantages of rapid defoaming, long defoaming time, safety, and non toxicity, but they are insoluble in water and have poor high temperature and alkali resistance. Polyether defoamers have high temperature and alkali resistance, but their defoaming speed and time are not ideal. Through condensation technology, polyether is linked to polysiloxane chains, giving it the advantages of both defoamers and becoming a new defoamer with excellent performance and broad application prospects.
