The main structural feature of double capped vinyl silicone oil is that some methyl groups (Me) in polydimethylsiloxane are replaced by vinyl groups (Vi), forming a reactive polydimethylsiloxane. Vinyl silicone oil exhibits the physical form of a liquid fluid due to its unique chemical structure.

Vinyl silicone oil is mainly divided into two types: end vinyl silicone oil and high vinyl silicone oil. Among them, end vinyl silicone oil mainly includes end vinyl polydimethylsiloxane (Vi PDMS) and end vinyl polydimethylsiloxane (Vi PMVS). Due to its different vinyl content, it has different application characteristics.

The reaction mechanism of vinyl silicone oil is similar to that of dimethyl silicone oil, but due to the vinyl group in its structure, it has higher reaction activity. The main method used in the preparation of vinyl silicone oil is the open-loop equilibrium reaction process. This process uses octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, tetramethyltetravinylcyclotetrasiloxane, and other raw materials to form chain like structures with different degrees of polymerization through ring opening reactions catalyzed by acid or base.

Vinyl silicone oil is a colorless or pale yellow transparent liquid, non-toxic, odorless, and free of mechanical impurities. This oily substance is insoluble in water, but can be miscible with benzene, dimethyl ether, methyl ethyl ketone, tetrachlorocarbon, or kerosene, and slightly soluble in acetone and ethanol.

Due to its low vapor pressure, high flash point and ignition point, and low solidification point, vinyl silicone oil can remain stable and non-volatile in high temperatures or special environments, ensuring its long-term effectiveness in various applications.

Double capped vinyl silicone oil with vinyl groups at both ends, which gives it strong reactivity. Under the action of catalysts, vinyl silicone oil can react with chemical substances containing active hydrogen groups and other active groups to prepare various silicon products with special properties. During the reaction process, vinyl silicone oil does not release other low molecular weight substances, and the reaction deformation is small, which further improves its practicality in the chemical industry.

Due to its excellent smoothness, softness, brightness, and temperature and weather resistance, vinyl silicone oil has a wide range of applications in the modification of plastics, resins, paints, coatings, and other materials. At the same time, it can also be used as a basic raw material in the production of high-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber (HTV) to enhance the strength and hardness of the silicone rubber. In the production of liquid silicone rubber, vinyl silicone oil is also the main raw material for injection molding silicone rubber, electronic adhesive, and thermal conductive adhesive.
