Classification of Fluorosilicone Rubber

Hits: 731 img

Based on vulcanization mechanism, fluorosilicone rubber can be classified into the following types:

Free-Radical Type: This type of fluorosilicone rubber is vulcanized using peroxides. The vulcanization process involves the generation of free radicals from the decomposition of peroxides, which then initiate cross-linking reactions within the polymer chains.

Condensation Type: This type undergoes vulcanization through specific condensation reactions. These reactions typically involve the formation of covalent bonds between functional groups on the polymer chains, leading to cross-linking and the formation of a stable elastomer.

Addition Type: This type achieves vulcanization through addition reactions. Typically, the base rubber contains unsaturated bonds (such as Si-CH=CH2), which react with cross-linking agents (such as hydrogen-containing fluorosilicone oil) under the catalysis of platinum catalysts to form a three-dimensional network structure.

In summary, fluorosilicone rubber exhibits a diverse range of types based on its vulcanization mechanism.
