The current study believes that polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is basically not absorbed by human skin and gastrointestinal, almost no acute toxicity, basically no irritation to the skin, irritation to the eyes, and can cause mild conjunctiva Inflammation or red membrane inflammation. There is no evidence that polydimethylsiloxane is teratogenic, carcinogenic and genotoxic. There are reasons to believe that PDMS will not cause health hazards under the existing normal use conditions.

The statement that silicone oil causes hair loss is not rigorous. Hair loss after shampoo is used. This phenomenon does occur, but it may be caused by preservatives, flavors, or other surfactants. Silicone oil is only possible. If one day you use a brand A product for hair loss, and switch to a brand B shampoo that also contains silicone oil, your hair does not fall out. Do you think it is the cause of the silicone oil? On the contrary, my personal experience is that using some silicone oil-containing shampoo is no problem, but after using a certain domestic silicone oil-free shampoo, the hair is brushed off.

Therefore, it is often reported that silicone oil causes hair loss, and there is no scientific basis. Using silicone oil-containing shampoo to cause hair loss, you have to consider whether it is the problem of the entire product, and not let one ingredient-silicone oil as a scapegoat.

Although the above are all about the safety of silicone oil, it does not mean that silicone oil is a 100% cosmetic ingredient that has no safety concerns.
