Many people like to use silicone to create some models, such as DIY handmade soap and cartoon character models. So what tools and materials are needed in the process of mold flipping? Below is a list to share with everyone.

1、 Liquid silicone
Liquid silicone, also known as silicone or silicone gel, is the main consumable for making silicone molds during the mold turning process. There are two types of silicone molds: semi transparent and white. It is recommended to use white, which has better flowability and mold turning times compared to semi transparent.

2、 Curing agent
Curing agent: Curing agent is used to solidify liquid silicone, adding silicone in the proportion required by the manufacturer, thoroughly stirring, and then covering the mold. If too much curing agent is added, the silicone will quickly harden and may be scrapped before the operation is completed. If too little is added, the curing time may be long, and it may not cure at all.

3、 Polyurethane resin
Polyurethane resin, commonly known as AB water, is a very convenient material to use. AB components are mixed in a 1:1 ratio, thoroughly stirred, and cured in about 3-5 minutes. After fully curing, wait for 1 hour before demolding. The flipping details are very good, the shrinkage rate is small, and the finished product has a good feel.

4、 Release agent
Release agents can be sprayed, replaced with medical Vaseline, or replaced with oily substances such as eye ointment, in order to separate silicone molds.

5、 Industrial rubber putty
Industrial rubber putty, as the main material for making reflective molds before pouring silicone, is relatively soft and can be replaced by oil putty, clay, and other materials. It can be used repeatedly, and is often used for large-scale mold flipping.

6、 Building blocks
Flipped building blocks are not necessary, but can be made of ABS board or cardboard. Pay attention to sealing, and if the cardboard surface needs to be smooth.

7、 Electronic scale
Electronic scales are used to weigh the weight ratio of silicone and curing agent.
