Summary of reasons for non curing of mold liquid silicone

Hits: 273 img

When we use mold liquid silicone to make silicone molds, we encounter the phenomenon of silicone and curing agent not curing for 24 hours after mixing. What are the reasons for the non curing of liquid silicone? Below, Rongxin silicone manufacturer lists four factors and solutions.

Reason 1: If the temperature is too low, liquid silicone will be difficult to solidify below 10 ℃, which usually occurs more frequently in winter. In this case, raising the room temperature to 20 ℃ -30 ℃ can solve the problem.

Reason 2: The curing agent ratio is correct. Generally, the ratio of condensed silicone to curing agent is 100:2. If too little curing agent ratio is added, it will lead to non curing or difficult curing. In addition, the curing agent provided by the manufacturer is generally weight ratio rather than volume ratio.
Reason 3: The silicone and curing agent are not thoroughly stirred evenly. If not stirred evenly, it will generally cause some cured parts to not solidify. Therefore, when stirring, attention should be paid to the residual silicone on the edges and corners of the container.

Reason 4: If adding 1:1 or 10:1 silicone without curing is used, in addition to the above reasons, there may also be toxic reactions between platinum curing agent and tin, phosphorus, ammonium, chlorine, carboxylic acid, mercaptan, hydroxyl and other compounds, resulting in non curing. Contact with such compounds should be prohibited during use to avoid non curing.
