The inner layer is prone to foaming and has a large permanent deformation during high-temperature compression. Therefore, it has been replaced by methyl vinyl silicone rubber.

Because the introduction of a small amount of vinyl into the macromolecular structure of silicone rubber can greatly improve the vulcanization processing performance of silicone rubber, most of the silicone rubber currently used contains vinyl. Methylvinyl silicone rubber is the most commonly used type of silicone rubber and currently dominates the production of silicone rubber both domestically and internationally. Due to the introduction of partially unsaturated vinyl on the side chain, its processing performance and physical and mechanical properties are superior to those of two base silicone rubber. It not only has the general characteristics of dimethyl silicone rubber, but also has a wide temperature range and can maintain good elasticity within the range of -60~260 ℃. It is easier to vulcanize than dimethyl silicone rubber, has smaller compression permanent deformation, good solvent expansion resistance, high pressure steam stability, and excellent cold resistance. Moreover, it uses peroxides with lower activity for vulcanization, This reduces the weakness of bubbles and poor rubber stability during vulcanization. Therefore, methyl vinyl silicone rubber can generally be used to make products with larger thickness. Methylvinyl silicone rubber is the most widely used variety in silicone rubber. In recent years, various high-performance and special purpose silicone rubbers have emerged, mostly based on vinyl silicone rubber, such as high-strength silicone rubber, low compression permanent deformation silicone rubber, non post vulcanized silicone rubber, heat-resistant conductive silicone rubber, and medical silicone rubber.
