Liquid silicone is a non-toxic, heat-resistant, and highly resilient flexible thermosetting material. Commonly known in the industry as LSR (Liquid Silicone Rubber).

LSR injection molding process:
LSR injection molding is divided into A and B components, and the mixer fully mixes A and B components in an accurate 1:1 ratio. Due to the colored design of some products, the mixer is equipped with a color pump group and a color measurement section. After the A+B components, additives, colors, etc. are fully mixed, they enter the plasticizing system.

Key process requirements for LSR injection molding:
Due to the low viscosity, rapid solidification, shear thinning, and high thermal expansion coefficient, the rheological behavior of LSR is mainly manifested. Therefore, it is necessary to provide corresponding control over the process of forming and production. Especially in the related links of feeding and injection molding.

Feed one-way pump system:
A synchronous single pump with a check valve also needs to be equipped with a corresponding measuring cylinder system to effectively control the accuracy of feeding.

Injection Molding - Mold Design:
Due to the high expansion coefficient of LSR, it will expand during heating but contract slightly during cooling. Therefore, the components cannot maintain accurate side distance in the mold, so a cold runner mold processing design should be adopted. To avoid turbulence and spray, use needle or wing shaped small injection ports. Replacing cylindrical guide bolts with T-shaped guide bolts increases positioning accuracy. Set up insulation layer/board for easy demolding of solidified LSR.

Injection molded parts:
Due to the low viscosity of LSR, it is important to consider material reflux and glue leakage during the processing, so the sealing of injection molding screws is very important. When the glue injection is completed, the nozzle will be immediately closed and a needle valve nozzle must be used.
