What is low-temperature resistant silicone?

Hits: 28 img

Low temperature resistant silicone rubber is a new generation of green, environmentally friendly, and energy-saving silicone material. It can be quickly vulcanized at low temperature and can be vulcanized at 120 ° C. No need to add vulcanizing agent, no need for secondary vulcanization. The conventional silicone material has a vulcanization temperature of 180 ° C and a long molding time, requiring the addition of bis (24) or bis (25) as catalysts, and the product requires secondary vulcanization.

Low temperature resistant silicone rubber refers to silicone rubber with a working temperature of -100 ℃, and its mechanism is different from conventional silicone rubber. It is obtained by introducing methyl phenyl siloxane or diphenyl siloxane chains into the molecular chain of methyl vinyl silicone rubber.

Low temperature resistant silicone rubber introduces phenyl groups on the side groups of polysiloxane, which greatly reduces the crystallization temperature of the polymer due to the disruption of the regularity of the dimethylsiloxane structure. The working temperature of the resulting silicone extends to -100 ℃. In addition to small compression permanent deformation, wide temperature range, oxidation resistance, weather resistance, shock resistance, moisture resistance, and good electrical insulation performance, it also has properties such as low temperature resistance, ablation resistance, and radiation resistance.

Low temperature resistant silicone materials are divided into the following categories:
1.When the phenyl content (ratio of phenyl to silicon atoms) is between 5-10%, it is called low phenyl silicone rubber.
2. When the phenyl content is 20-40%, it is called medium phenyl silicone rubber. It has flame resistance characteristics and can self extinguish once ignited.
3.When the phenyl content is between 40-50%, it is called high phenyl silicone rubber, and it has radiation resistance. The radiation is 1xI08 Roentgen.

Generally speaking, with the increase of phenyl content, the rigidity of the molecular chain of silicone rubber gradually increases, and the low-temperature resistance of silicone rubber gradually decreases. However, with the increase of phenyl content, the flame resistance and radiation resistance of the vulcanizate are improved.

Low temperature resistant silicone materials are used in the aerospace industry, cutting-edge technology, and other sectors of the national economy. It can be used to make various molded and extruded products, and can be used as cold resistant rubber in the aviation industry, as well as sealing components for areas that are resistant to erosion, heat aging, or radiation.
