Before curing, liquid silicone rubber is environmentally friendly, non-toxic and has no smell. But it is time to add masterbatch ingredients and vulcanizing agent to make silicone rubber appliances, and then use oil press or injection machine to form at high temperature. In this process, a little smell will be produced, which is normal. After two or three days of natural ventilation, the smell will disappear naturally, without affecting the quality of silicone products.
However, if the smell of silicone rubber products is unusually pungent, it should be noted that the manufacturer of silicone rubber products may have used unqualified silicone rubber raw materials or curing agents.
In fact, silicone rubber is a relatively safe material, so we try to choose products from large manufacturers when purchasing, so that the safety is also guaranteed.
If the purchased silicone products have a heavy odor, we can try the following methods to eliminate the odor:
1. Water boiling
Boil it for 10~30 minutes, remove it and dry it in the air. It is mainly used for silicone products that are resistant to water but not high temperature;
2. Baking method
That is, directly bake at 200 ℃ for 10~30 minutes, and finally clean and wipe with clean wet cloth, and then dry;
For silicone rubber without peculiar smell, we still recommend using the above method once before use, which is safer. In addition, some silicone rubber materials are thin and soft. The manufacturer may just suggest hot water for scalding, so scald as many times as possible to promote the volatilization of residues.
