Characteristics of Ceramic Silicone Rubber

01. Forming a self-supporting ceramic body in flames
When rubber materials containing inorganic fillers are exposed to flames, rubber undergoes degradation or combustion, and the degradation or combustion products evaporate, leaving behind less strong inorganic residues or ash. These residues are usually non cohesive or self-supporting, and even broken into particles or powders, thus having no fire protection effect. When specially designed ceramic rubber is exposed to flames, depending on the type and formula of the rubber, it can undergo ceramic transformation within the range of 350~800 ℃ or above, sintered into porous self-supporting ceramic bodies. It can maintain structural integrity in a high temperature flame of 650~1000 ℃ for a certain period of time (0.5~2 hours), and can effectively play the role of "passive fire prevention", winning valuable time for fire safety.

02. Has a certain strength and good thermal shock resistance
The sintered body after vitrification is relatively hard, with ceramic sound when struck, and a certain degree of flexural strength and puncture strength. The bending strength of ceramic silicone rubber specimens is much greater than that of ordinary silicone rubber, and it increases significantly with the increase of temperature. Simulate the firefighting process by spraying water on high-temperature ablated specimens, and the sintered body of ceramicized silicone rubber does not crack, demonstrating good thermal shock resistance.

03. Zero halogen, low smoke, low toxicity, self extinguishing, environmentally friendly
Ceramic silicone rubber can achieve flame-retardant self-extinguishing effect without the addition of halogen flame retardants, with a flame retardancy of UL94V-0 and an oxygen index of up to 38. Under the erosion of the flame, the smoke is completely cut off after being burned for a few minutes, and in the subsequent erosion process, there is no longer any smoke generated. The combustion of ceramic silicone rubber produces carbon dioxide, water, and silicon dioxide, all of which are non-toxic substances.

04. Good electrical performance
The electrical properties of ceramic silicone rubber with optimized formula - the volume resistivity before sintering is not less than 1015 Ω· cm. As the sintering temperature increases, its volume resistivity decreases. After burning at 1000 ℃ for 30 minutes, its volume resistivity decreases to 107 Ω· cm. The volume resistivity of ordinary silicone rubber before and after sintering shall not be less than 1015 and 107 Ω· cm, respectively.

05. Easy to process
The rubber material preparation and product production process are similar to ordinary silicone rubber, and can be produced using conventional rubber processing equipment (such as extruders, flat vulcanizers, injection machines, etc.). Simplify the production process of fire-resistant cables and reduce costs.
