What is the effect of phenyl silicone oil synthesis on fabrics?

Hits: 77 img

Phenyl silicone oil is a colorless or light yellow transparent oil formed by the substitution of some methyl groups with phenyl in methyl silicone oil. Not only methyl silicone oil can be used in fabrics, but it also has an impact on fabrics. The synthesized phenyl silicone oil also has an impact on fabrics. This article synthesized several phenyl silicone oils, tested the comprehensive performance of phenyl silicone oil and the silicone rubber system composed of them, studied the performance of different phenyl silicone oils applied to fabric treatment, and analyzed the performance and changes of the fabric before and after treatment.

High purity methylphenyl dimethoxysilane was synthesized using methyltrimethoxysilane as the raw material. Using this monomer and diphenyldimethoxysilane as raw materials, after complete co hydrolysis, various phenyl molar contents of methylphenyl silicone oil and diphenyl silicone oil were obtained through equilibrium condensation using hexamethyldisiloxane as a blocking agent and trifluoromethanesulfonic acid as a catalyst.

We studied the effects of changes in phenyl molar content of two types of phenyl silicone oils on their performance, such as thermal stability, refractive index, rheological properties, etc. The results show that for diphenyl silicone oil, the refractive index is highest at a molar fraction of 40%, reaching 1.5435, and the thermal stability is best at a molar fraction of 30%.

Vinyl terminated phenyl silicone oil was prepared using diphenyldimethoxysilane and dimethyldimethoxysilane as raw materials, and 1,3-divinyltetramethyldisiloxane as a blocking agent. Phenyl hydrogen containing silicone oil was synthesized using diphenyldimethoxysilane, dimethyldimethoxysilane, and methyldichlorosilane as raw materials, and hexamethyldisiloxane as a blocking agent.

Two components, vinyl terminated phenyl silicone oil and phenyl hydrogen containing silicone oil, were crosslinked and cured under the action of a catalyst to obtain silicone rubber. The prepared thin film has a maximum transmittance of 97.14% under 460nm ultraviolet light. Explored the performance changes of phenyl silicone rubber systems composed of different phenyl silicone oils, and found that the refractive index of phenyl silicone rubber is positively correlated with the molecular weight of vinyl terminated phenyl silicone oil.

Finally, several phenyl silicone oils were applied to fabric treatment, and the mechanical properties, whiteness, and fastness of the fabric before and after treatment were compared and tested. Research has found that the tensile strength of fabrics treated with phenyl silicone oil is generally enhanced, but the whiteness slightly decreases. When using phenyl silicone oil to treat colored fabrics, the soaping fastness, wet friction fastness, and sun fastness of the treated fabrics are all improved by one level.

Methyl silicone oil is used for the softening and finishing of fabrics, increasing their lubricity, smoothness, fullness, and elasticity. After finishing with phenyl silicone oil, the tensile strength of the fabric is generally enhanced, but the whiteness slightly decreases. When using phenyl silicone oil to treat colored fabrics, the soaping fastness, wet friction fastness, and sun fastness of the treated fabrics are all improved by one level.
