Classification of Fluorosilicone Rubber by Vulcanization Temperature
Fluorosilicone rubber, as a high-performance elastomer material, features a vulcanization temperature that is a critical factor influencing its processing and application characteristics. Based on vulcanization temperature, fluorosilicone rubber can be classified into two main categories: high-temperature vulcanization type and room-temperature vulcanization type.
High-Temperature Vulcanization Fluorosilicone Rubber:
This type of fluorosilicone rubber requires vulcanization at higher temperatures, typically exceeding 100°C and potentially reaching 200°C or higher. High-temperature vulcanization ensures thorough crosslinking between fluorosilicone molecular chains, yielding excellent physical-mechanical properties and chemical stability. High-temperature vulcanization fluorosilicone rubber is suitable for manufacturing seals, pipes, cable jackets, and other products that require high heat resistance, oil resistance, solvent resistance, and other performance characteristics.
Room-Temperature Vulcanization Fluorosilicone Rubber:
Unlike high-temperature vulcanization types, room-temperature vulcanization fluorosilicone rubber can vulcanize at room temperature, eliminating the need for heating equipment and simplifying the processing process. Room-temperature vulcanization fluorosilicone rubber is further divided into one-component and two-component types. One-component room-temperature vulcanization fluorosilicone rubber can be extruded or applied by brushing onto the area needing sealing or bonding and will undergo vulcanization at room temperature. Two-component types require mixing the two components evenly before vulcanization. Room-temperature vulcanization fluorosilicone rubber is suitable for various sealing, bonding, and coating applications, particularly in situations requiring rapid curing and ease of operation.
